Here’s a footprint for a Barndominium.  The Garage side of the building is 40′ x 30′ and employs a pair of 10′ wide by 9′ high steel overhead doors.  We insulated the interior with R-21 Batt insulation in the sidewalls and R-38 Blown insulation in the ceiling.  We then lined the interior with metal for a maintenance free finish.

The Barndo side was left uninsulated and unlined so that the owners could contract with a local carpenter to install interior walls as well as prep the exterior walls with studs before insulating and finishing off with drywall.  The Garage side has roof trusses @ 4′ o/c and the Barndo side has them at 2′ o/c for future drywall application.
